Optimal Configuration and Recommendations

For best performance in most applications, the Cheetah® should be installed alongside the stock intake horn and stock airbox. Aftermarket intake horns and airboxes have been observed to affect MAF sensor readings, which can reduce overall turbocharger performance. Peak performance on an otherwise-stock truck is achieved when paired with the factory intake horn and airbox.

Care should be taken when combining this turbocharger with other aftermarket products that can affect MAF sensor readings or lower overall engine RPM, including aftermarket intakes and air filters, aftermarket intake horns, throttle sensitivity boosters, or larger-diameter tires. Stock-application trucks using some or all of these components may, under certain load conditions at low engine RPM, experience compressor surging. This tendency is more pronounced on 10-speed transmission models. In these situations, downshifting to avoid running the engine at low RPM (“lugging”) is recommended.
